I&#039;ve seen two conflicting stories about extreme calorie restriction. One says that it causes rapid weight loss, the other that it slows the metabolism and causes an inability or decrease in speed of losing weight. Which is true? Any personal experiences.  I think I found an answer. Well I been on a diet for 9 days now. My calorie intake is 1000-1200 calories. I also was drinking 1 -2 gallons of water a day. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days, but I think it does cause rapid weight loss but for only a short amount of time. But it also depends how active you are. If your are really active then your body is going to need more food to burn for energy. And since you would be eating 1000-1200 calorie like I was its going to use fat. But I suggest have a calorie intake that low take some vitamins as well. Because your body will not be getting enough nutrients. <br/></p>

I&#039;ve been over weight my whole life. I am tired of being fat.  I&#039;m 227 lbs.  That is the biggest I have ever been. I have a boyfriend that loves me know matter what but I see him looking away sometimes at other girls like a size2.  I wanna lose weight so I don&#039;t feel so bad.  I am 24 years old and I feel so out of shape and run down. Can anyone tell me what you have done to lose weight? What plans were you on? What kinds of foods did you eat? How much did you excise? How much wieght did you lose.  Basically&#8230; Try myfooddiary. Com The only way to really loose weight is to eat right and exercise, but sometimes you think you&#039;re doing enough and it turns out you&#039;re wrong.  This website is very good at helping you manage it all. . AND. . It&#039;s only  a month.  I have been consistently loosing 1-2lbs a month at a minimum, and it&#039;s staying off.  Hard work is the only real way, don&#039;t succumb to a stupid fad diet.  If you don&#039;t try MFD, try another management source like it, but MFD, in my opinion, is FANTASTIC. (and they&#039;ll let you try it free for a week. )<br/></p>

 I am wondering if I can lose weight following this diet and exercise plan.  I eat about 6 servings of whole grains, 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruits.  I eat around 3 servings of meat, mostly egg, turkey, and chicken breast.  I also eat 3 servings of dairy, mostly milk, fat free yogurt and a slice of cheese.  I workout once a day by either going to the gym or running.  And my job involves pushing carts for a grocery store.  Will I lose weight.  Essentially &#8212; More than likely.  Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.  I mean just plain water, at least 6-8 8oz. Glasses (if not 12) per day.  Make sure you&#039;re also splitting your meals up fairly equally, about 4-6 meals per day.  (eat about every 3 hours. ) I have done a lot of research regarding losing weight and gaining muscle over the years, as I was once very overweight.  I am now at 10% body fat and weigh 230 pounds (6&#039;1 tall).  I keep myself this way by following these guidelines. The servings per day you explained sound pretty good.  Good luck, you can do it.<br/></p>

If they were to help you lose weight, you would gain it back after you quit taking the pills. First of all, it doesn&#039;t sound like you are that heavy. This is the preferred way to start a healthy diet plan, especially if you are under a doctor&#8217;s care for diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease.  Planning is essential to establish the don&#8217;ts, and to determine the extent of the do&#8217;s.  You don&#8217;t want to regret not taking these initial steps later on. <br/><br />
After you get rolling with your diet plan, there would still be a need for occasional consultations with both professionals, to monitor your progress.  They may make adjustment to your diet plan as you proceed toward your goal. <br/><br />
No healthy diet plan is complete without regular exercise.  A personal trainer would be ideal, if you can afford one. Dietary Guidelines<br/><br />
The US Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services announced the release of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  The Dietary Guidelines is published jointly every 5 years by the Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). <br/><br />
The Guidelines provide advice for all Americans two years and older about how to make healthy dietary choices.  They are designed to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, overweight and obesity through improved nutrition and physical exercise. <br/><br />
The 7th edition of Dietary Guidelines for Americans places stronger emphasis on reducing calorie consumption and increasing physical activity and/or exercise, because more than one-third of children and more than two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight or obese.  This edition, like previous ones, also serves as the basis for Federal food and nutrition education programs. <br/><br />
Structure of Food Guides<br/><br />
Most countries have developed some sort of food nutrition guide, for its people, establishing a healthy diet and nutrition plan to keep the nation healthy.  The guide usually consists of four to six food groups, detailing the daily serving servings for each group, and other recommendations for healthy eating. <br/><br />
Some food nutrition guides take the shape of a dish, a platter, or a pyramid, and are referred to as such.  The USDA food nutrition guide, which depicts the Dietary Guidelines, takes the shape of a pyramid, and is called MyPyramid. <br/><br />
MyPyramid illustrates color triangles for each food category.  Foods from the largest triangles should be eaten most often, while those from the smallest triangle eaten in small amounts. <br/><br />
MyPyramid Plan gives recommendations for healthy eating, by helping you choose from a assortment of foods, recommending the servings size and the number servings per day. <br/><br />
MyPyramid Basic Messages gives you important tips and recommendations for healthy eating, and daily exercise. <br/><br />
Inside MyPyramid provides detail recommendations for healthy eating, to help improve your diet plan, including data about each food group, number of calories, and physical workout. <br/><br />
MyPyramid Tracker offers an activity chart for entering all the foods eaten each day, and all daily physical activities performed. <br/><br />
This allows you to adopt good recommendations for healthy eating, and monitor your progress. <br/><br />
The Healthy Diet Program<br/><br />
MyPyramid Plan is equipped with a tool that creates a unique diet program for the individual diet planner.  It utilizes age, sex, weight, height, and the level of your physical daily activity to calculate your daily recommendations.  It provides the amount of each food group to include in your daily intake, and the number of calories for your diet plan. <br/><br />
A special worksheet is provided for documentation of your daily food intake and physical activity.  Very little typing is required.  You make selections from pop up menus about your daily activities.  Upon request, your daily activities are compared against dietary guidelines, and some recommendations are made to improve your diet plan.  The worksheet is printable.  Use it as a reference guide, to construct a healthy diet plan. <br/><br />
MyPyramids Plan also features MyPyramid Tracker, an on line dietary and physical assessment tool that provides information on the quality of the diet and physical activity.  At the click of a button, you are told whether you are eating adequately form all food groups.  It also provides information about the food groups, which enables you to make better choices to design a healthy diet plan. <br/><br />
As you can see, MyPyramid Plan provides the services of a nutritionist, to help you create a healthy diet plan, that doesn&#8217;t cost your arms and leg.  But for those people who suffer certain diseases, physical activities are not recommended before a consultation with your physician. <br/><br />

Okay so I&#039;m 18 and I live with my mom, dad, and brother (16). And this winter we&#039;ve all seemed to pack on a few pounds.  So I was wondering what would be a good way to establish a family diet plan.  I don&#039;t even know where to start.  We&#039;re all working out together but I just don&#039;t know how to get us eating healthier.  We eat a lot of hamburger helper and stuff, and we always have a vegetable as part of a meal.  I know that a good idea would be to go vegetarian but that&#039;s not really an option.   So if anyone has any suggestions that would be so helpful. Thanks so much.  Basically&#8230; One of the tricks that I use is to grill a lot. Fix a decent side or two, like vegetables, rice, etc. , and grill the meat. You can find lean cuts of steak, hambugers, chicken, etc. The grill is far healthier than frying, or baking and taste a lot better. If you have a gas grill, it&#039;s really no more work than cooking in the kitchen. <br/></p>
